Phase 1 – Foundations
Brand-new nurse; shadowing, single patient with full preceptor assist, EMR immersion, infection prevention, communication standards.
Phase 2 – Core Practice
Limited experience; telemetry application, escalation, med-surg to ICU bridge. Dysrhythmia course completion verified before starting.
Phase 3 – ICU Transition
Experienced nurse new to ICU; advanced monitoring, drips, ventilators, sepsis bundles, rapid response integration.
Phase 4 – Unit Integration
Experienced ICU RN onboarding to this unit; specialty pathways, leadership roles, final competency board.
